Phishing Scam

Highland Telephone Cooperative (HTC) Internet Support has been made aware of a recent “Phishing” email that you may have received on Monday, February 21st. This email had a subject line that read "Mailbox Alert" and showed it was from "IT Admin". The message directs you to click links or buttons to "View pending emails below and Repair your Htcnet mailbox below". The message is a phishing scam, do not click anything in that message or reply to the email with any account information.

the fraudulent practice of sending emails purporting to be from reputable companies in order to induce individuals to reveal personal information, such as passwords and credit card numbers.

As your service provider, HTC already has your account details on file, and we will never solicit this information via email. When we contact customers, we will always provide a way to verify the legitimacy of emails from Highland Telephone Cooperative.

If you have clicked the links to "View pending emails" or "Repair your Htcnet mailbox" or replied to the email with your account information, please contact us at (540) 468-2131 to change your password, securing your account.
