If your home phone service is provided with our state-of-the-art fiber optic network, it requires electric power to operate. To avoid a disruption of home voice service (does not include WiFi) during a power outage and to maintain the ability to connect to 911 emergency services, HTC will provide you with either a 4-hour or 8-hour battery backup at no charge.
The battery backup provided by HTC must be kept connected to a power source so that it maintains a charge. This will allow you to continue to use your voice services during a power outage The battery is expected to last anywhere from 4 hours to 8 hours on standby power, however, the actual “talk” time may be less. If you feel the 4-hour or 8-hour battery backup is not adequate, HTC also offers a 24-hour battery for a one-time lease fee of $100. Either battery will remain the property of HTC and be serviced/replaced by HTC.
Cordless phones, home security systems, the Internet, medical monitoring devices, routers and other equipment are not powered by HTC battery backup during a power outage. If you want these devices to operate during an outage, you should purchase a separate battery backup designed to support that equipment.
